Silent Treatment is a work created for Sophia Balagamwala’s solo exhibition ‘Big Men Wear Really Big Shoes’ in 2018. The work employs humor and play to subvert traditional ideas of portrait painting, inhabiting a space between history, fiction and nonsense. The frame is deconstructed and reconstructed, repainted, made to accommodate the desires of the figures within who seem to have had a disagreement.
